Funimation Nintendo Switch app

Nintendo Switch is a great console if you want to play fun games at home or on the go, but apps are a different story. A few services like YouTube and Hulu have come to Switch, but it’s a slow trickle. It seems that we’ll soon be getting another popular streaming service, and it’s great news for anime fans. Funimation seems to be teasing a Nintendo Switch app!

Funimation Nintendo Switch app?

The Sony-owned anime streaming service sent out a tweet this evening with a short video clip of a Nintendo Switch peaking out from behind a laptop. “Oh, hello.” That’s all we’re getting for now, but the implication seems pretty clear. A Funimation app is on the way!

This is good news not only because the Funimation website is a steaming pile of garbage has its fair share of issues, but also because it could open the door to even more services on Switch. Funimation recently acquired Crunchyroll, another major anime streaming service, so hopefully, that means we’ll see it on the platform soon too. I’d love to see Funimation and Crunchyroll available together in one bundle again like the glory days of VRV.

Until then, we’ll have to wait and see what Sony is planning. So far they haven’t announced a release date for the Funimation Nintendo Switch app, but we’ll be on the lookout.
