While next year’s core Pokémon on Nintendo Switch is still largely a mystery, we now know Game Freak is aiming to switch things up with the Pokémon series in the coming year.

Game Freak recently sent their annual new year’s letter to Japanese publication Famitsu, in which the company stated they want to “surprise” players in 2019, according to Serebii. There was no information as to what this surprise could be, though I’m guessing it’s the RPG likely due out next Fall.

Pokémon: Let’s Go was a lighthearted, fun story, but next year’s title is bound to be more suited for a veteran Pokemon audience. How could Game Freak surprise players with the next Nintendo Switch game? Let us know your thoughts down in the comments section.
