Developers One More Level, 3D Realms, and Slipgate Ironworks and publishers All in! Games and 505 Games have announced that Ghostrunner is launching digitally for Nintendo Switch on Oct. 27, in addition to previously announced PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC platforms. It’s a futuristic high-octane ninja parkour game where death is swift for both you and your enemies, and it’s also especially beautiful, which makes the announcement of a Nintendo Switch version pleasantly surprising. There is a new trailer to showcase what the game will look like running on Switch, and it seems really solid.
Ghostrunner does not have a Nintendo Switch eShop page yet, but the game is currently available for preorder with assorted discounts on other platforms. Additionally, preorders on those platforms have come with two exclusive katanas, one of which is even exclusive to the platform from which preorder occurs. It remains to be seen if Switch preorders will receive similar benefits. However, the non-discounted retail price of the game is $29.99.
Additionally, if you have a capable PC, Ghostrunner is receiving a new PC demo on Steam on Tuesday, Sept. 29. If you can’t wait that long to get some hands-on impressions though, sister site The Escapist has a preview article for the game from this past summer, praising the platforming and bemoaning the difficulty.
In any case, collaborators 3D Realms and Slipgate Ironworks have a strong track record, so their working in conjunction with third developer One More Level should mean they have plenty of resources to get the game right on Nintendo Switch.
