Acclaimed God of War artist Raf Grassetti has been busy lately. Specifically, he has been reimagining characters from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in his own style. Nintendo fans have been gobbling each one of these posts up. But what if there was more to these amazing art pieces?
In a recent tweet (shown below), Raf used his previously made models in a fan poster and begs the question, “When are we going to see a DK movie?”
When are we going to see a DK movie? ?

Good question! While this is nothing more than a pipe dream at the moment, it would be amazing to see Donkey Kong done in this semi-realistic style. Nintendo’s main monkey hasn’t gotten too much love outside of video games after all.
There’s the infamous Donkey Kong Country 3D animated show from the ’90s. Many folks these days will recognize it for its meme potential and awkward musical parts. If we’re counting the original Donkey Kong (AKA Cranky Kong), then we could also throw in the Saturday Supercade cartoons from the ’80s.
As you can see, we can do a lot better for DK with today’s technology. A Donkey Kong movie doesn’t necessarily have to be done in a God of War style, but it’s certainly better than what we’ve gotten so far.
