Miitopia Grezzo

The Nintendo 3DS game Miitopia will be getting a Nintendo Switch port in May. This was announced during last week’s Nintendo Direct. Interestingly, it turns out developer Grezzo is involved with the Switch version’s development, as Nintendo’s UK webpage for Miitopia lists Grezzo alongside Nintendo in the credits section. Grezzo is well-known for its work on The Legend of Zelda remasters and remakes on 3DS and Switch, including Ocarina of Time 3D, Majora’s Mask 3D, and Link’s Awakening.

In addition to its work on Miitopia, we reported recently that Grezzo is hiring for a new “stylish,” “medieval” game. The job listings mentioned that it is developing the game with Unity and VisualStudio, and Grezzo is seeking a programmer, effects designer, and UI designer. The descriptions of the game make it seem somewhat unlikely that it is another Zelda project or that it is a sequel to the developer’s own IP, Ever Oasis. This may potentially be a new IP.

In any case, the Miitopia Switch port is in good hands with Grezzo. The Japanese studio has experience working with Nintendo IP and always surpasses expectations. The Zelda remasters and Link’s Awakening remake are enough evidence, with them running magnificently overall on the chosen hardware. Miitopia launches on May 21, 2021 for Nintendo Switch.
