Update (3/24/2020) : The developers have confirmed that the listing is false.
The Switch has amassed quite the selection of racing games for itself at this point. However, one that certainly stands out is that of the very realistic GRID Autosport. First delivered last year via the eShop, this is a supped-up version of a game that was first launched back in late 2013 for last-gen consoles. Codemasters, the publishers, may have realized how popular physical releases still are after all.
A German website known as NetGames has posted a listing for a physical edition of GRID Autosport on Switch. It points to a placeholder release date of December 31, 2020. The end of any given year is a commend trend in placeholder listings. Still, with no official word from Codemasters or Nintendo, there’s still no telling for sure how authentic this listing is. Until then, this can be classified as a rumor.
Nevertheless, GRID Autosport is a well-put-together sim/arcade racing hybrid. It remains as one of the most robust Switch ports to date and also happens to be the definitive version of Autosport thanks to improved visuals and including all of the DLC out-of-the-box. Since some folks only buy a game when they can own it in boxed form, a physical release might produce a small second wave of sales for GRID assuming that this listing is to be believed.
