Developer Northplay has announced a January 13, 2022 release date for vibrant adventure game Headland on Nintendo Switch. You play as Nor, a boy on a quest to rebuild the Imagination Core, whatever that is. You’ll do that by traveling across colorful islands, fighting assorted monsters, leveling up your powers, and collecting blueprints and resources to craft and upgrade weapons. You’ll even be helping out the townsfolk in typical heroic fashion.
Although Headland released last year as a premium mobile game experience, it has been revamped in all respects to provide an even better experience on Nintendo Switch for its release date this week. Northplay says the game now has all-new controls, a new leveling mechanic, a reworked weapons system, better combat, more story, and improved visuals on Switch. Those all sound like pretty good things. A trailer from a few weeks ago demonstrates how Headland runs in action on Nintendo Switch, and it’s clear the game is trying to harness the power of imagination.
If you’re hankering for a kid-friendly top-down adventure on Switch and you’ve burned a hole in Zelda, Headland seems like a worthwhile option. Following its Switch release, it will also come to PC at some point in the future.
