If it feels like you’ve been seeing the phrase “a Nintendo Direct is coming very soon” for quite some time now, that’s because it has been a noticeably long time since the last one (several months, really). As a result, there have been various murmurings from ‘insiders’ and leakers, particularly since early last month, about when Nintendo would next show off its latest slew of news. Now, the latest hint points to February 13.
This rumor comes from ResetERA user ‘King Zell’, who dropped a hint in a recent post. February 13 is a Wednesday, which would be a little off since Nintendo Directs usually air on Thursdays. Nevertheless, we’ll simply have to wait until next week rolls around to see if this event does come about.
The last time there was a notable lull period between Directs (which just so happened to be January 2018), Nintendo actually started toying with its fans via social media by posting cryptic images on Twitter. No such thing has happened this time around—not yet at least. Nintendo tends to announce Directs about a day before, so keep an eye on its social accounts as of the 12th.
We know a few of the company’s 2019 projects such as Animal Crossing, but recently unannounced games were teased. They might not make an appearance this early on (assuming next week does come to fruition), but just keep in mind that Nintendo has a history of pulling things out of left field. Keep your expectations in check, but don’t be surprised if there is a genuine surprise in the next Direct, whenever it may be.
