Jordan Vogt-Roberts is one of the more promising young directors in Hollywood, with recent projects like Kong: Skull Island and past film such as The Kings of Summer. He isn’t just a cinephile, though.

Vogt-Roberts is a vocal video game fan, and even has an idea for a Metroid movie.

I have a pitch for a Metroid movie,” Vogt-Roberts said. “They’ll never let me. It’s too crazy. It legitimately would be [Samus] alone. It would be a little bit of her talking to herself. As soon as they introduce other talking characters in those games, to me it loses everything. You put her alone and it’s almost got a little bit more to do with the silence of a movie like Drive, like the quietness, and having it be like a real, intense mood piece, but mixed with sci-fi.

Metroid truly has amazing film potential. Samus is one of the most iconic characters in video game history, and no doubt deserves her story told on the big screen.

With Nintendo getting into the filmmaking business with their upcoming Super Mario film, the possibilities are endless.
