Late last month, Danish developer IO Interactive revealed that Hitman 3 – Cloud Version will be coming to Nintendo Switch. As the name would suggest, Switch users will get to stream the game in the cloud. Today, the team has showcased a new Chinese location for the upcoming game, which is situated in Chongqing, and the development video also shows off how the location was created using its own Glacier game engine. Lighting and reflections have been enhanced since Hitman 2, and the team says this is on full display in Chongqing. Animations have also been overhauled, giving Agent 47 a more natural look in motion.
It’s not all for show though. The AI has been enhanced in Hitman 3, with denser crowds on display. IO Interactive says you’ll witness groups of more than 300 NPCs at once, giving you even more cover to sneak around in. The team explains the improvements have been applied to the locations in Hitman 1 and 2, which can be imported into Hitman 3.
It remains to be seen how all of this will affect the Switch cloud version of Hitman 3. High-end PC and console technical options were also discussed in the showcase, which you’d expect to carry over to a streamed version of the game. IO Interactive has yet to detail if the Hitman 1 and 2 locations are in the Switch version too, but since they’re offered for free to “existing owners,” maybe it’s unlikely.
The Danish developer recently announced that it is now handling the James Bond license. Project 007 was revealed just last week, and is early in development.
