Hori is adding more to its controller lineup of Nintendo Switch controllers with new wireless GameCube-style controllers that launch next month in Japan. The controllers come in Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, and Pikachu color options for 6,578 yen (~$61).
The official name is the Hori Wireless Classic Controller for Nintendo Switch. It’s essentially a wireless version of the wired controllers that Hori previously released for the Switch. They’re similar to the Hori GameCube Battle Pad controller but with a different button layout. It also has a completely smooth texture, unlike the Battle Pad that has a grip.

The controller comes with a 30cm long Type-C USB cable, which it uses to charge. It also includes an instructions manual.
The optimal wireless range is about 10 meters (roughly 32 ft). The controller features rear FL/FR buttons located behind the D-pad and C-stick. You can assign these buttons to whatever suits your play style in games that support it. It’s also worth noting that the controller has a built-in gyro sensor like the Pro Controller. The Turbo Speed comes in three options of 5 times a second, 10 times a second, and 20 times a second.
The GameCube-style Hori Wireless Classic Controller for Nintendo Switch launches in Japan in April 2021. The price and release date has yet to be announced in the West.
