Hotshot Racing to get free content post-launch soon physical version launch

Truly great racing games have been hard to come by on Nintendo Switch, even though the selection is improving. One of the more recent additions to the genre on the platform is Hotshot Racing, an Outrun-like arcade racer. So far, the game has only been released on the eShop, like much of the genre’s Switch titles. However, a physical edition of Hotshot Racing is coming from Curve Digital, at least in the U.S.

Preorders are live at Amazon and Best Buy in the region, where the scheduled release date is Feb. 19. Preorder prices are set at $30, and it looks like there aren’t any notable bonuses with the standard edition. The cartridge does comes with the recently released Big Boss Bundle content included, but that was a free add-on for digital players anyway.

Sadly, the cartridge release doesn’t extend worldwide. Retailer listings are live in the U.K. too, and it looks like Europe will be getting a code in a box-type version. These editions feel somewhat pointless, although they do present an opportunity to take advantage of store loyalty cards, trade-ins, and the like. The EU release is apparently set for March 21.

We welcome more physical racing games on Switch. Outside of the platform’s various kart racers, racing is almost entirely reserved for the digital store. If you want a new racer for your cartridge library, the Hotshot RacingĀ physical edition will prove a solid option.
