When the Pokémon Sword and Shield Expansion Pass was first announced, Game Freak decided to throw everyone a little teaser in the form of Galarian Slowpoke. Though it wouldn’t be a free-roaming Pokémon until today’s launch of The Isle of Armor, trainers could receive an early Slowpoke by visiting the Wild Area train station and interacting with your version’s Isle rival. At the time, there was no way to evolve the Slowpoke, but now that Isle of Armor is out, you can obtain a Galarian Slowbro. The process isn’t very straightforward, however, so here’s how to do it.
Galarica Twigs and Galarica Cuffs to get Galarian Slowbro
First, you’ll need to collect a total of eight Galarica Twigs. These are moderately common and can be found by investigating the shiny item pickups scattered throughout the overworld. If you’re having trouble finding these, I was most successful in grassy areas, such as the Soothing Wetlands or Training Lowlands.
Next, you’ll want to locate a specific NPC. There are a lot of tiny, unmarked islands in The Isle of Armor, so she can be quite tough to find on your own. To find this NPC easily, travel to the Isle of Armor train station. From there, go right and ride across the water until you find the uniquely shaped island pictured below. It’s not too far from the mainland, so it’s hard to miss unless you’re traversing through fog or other vision-obscuring weather.
Once on the island, you’ll find a lone NPC standing there who will give you the option to trade eight Galarica Twigs for a Galarica Cuff. Accept the trade to receive this new item. Lastly, make sure the Slowpoke you want to evolve is in your party. Give it the Galarica Cuff, and voila! You now have a Galarian Slowbro.
As with most evolutionary items, the Galarica Cuff is a single-use item, so if you want multiple Galarian Slowbro, you’ll have to repeat this process each time. Furthermore, if you’re trying to get a Galarian Slowking, you’ll have to continue waiting until The Crown Tundra expansion drops later this year.
