Hyperkin has developed a lot of  interesting gaming devices and accessories, and it looks like they have a new one coming up soon. After introducing us to the redesigned Game Boy in the form of a smartphone case, the company is now showing off its newest retro-Nintendo revival: the Super RetroN HD.

This device is basically a redesigned Super Nintendo Entertainment System/Super Famicom, which features a full-size cartridge slot. What makes it different from the original is that it can play cartridges from all other the world, and supports HDMI output. You can even switch between 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios, allowing you to decide if you really want to keep things retro or stretch out the image to fit a modern display.

There’s currently no information on the pricing or release date, but we’ll make sure to keep you updated as new details are released. At the very least, it has been revealed that the Super RetroN HD will have a redesigned SNES controller of its own and will feature two controller ports.

With Nintendo releasing their own SNES-redesign later this year, the SNES Classic Edition, the retro gaming scene is booming with new toys right now. If you’re not able to get your hands on the official Nintendo model, then perhaps this one might suffice (if you have actual SNES cartridges that still work).
