Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is Nintendo’s big holiday game for 2020 (yes, I’m bitter that anything would dare steal Pikmin 3 Deluxe’s rightful spotlight, even if you really should be excited for this one), and thanks to a new demo, hype levels are flying through the roof. The demo features a few locations based on past The Legend of Zelda games that, unlike their counterparts in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, have not been torn to shreds by angry Guardians. For example, in addition to Lon Lon Ranch, you can explore a fully functioning Mabe Village (that’s the location from The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening) in the Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity demo. For a full exploration, check out the video below from Nintendo Life.

Based on the demo, the hundred years between Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild were not kind. Mabe Village is still a tiny little village here, but it’s thriving in its pre-devastation state. Knowing what becomes of the world in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, it is a little depressing – but that’s probably going to be true of the whole game, huh.

Have you tried out the Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity demo just yet? Did you check out Mabe Village or any other popular locations? What did you think of the demo experience? Did you encounter any debilitatingly low frame rates, or was your experience mostly alright? Let us know in the comments below.
