Wales Interactive and Ghost Dog Films are bringing interactive movie and psychological thriller I Saw Black Clouds to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam with a release date of March 30, 2021. The FMV game will include a supernatural narrative and branching story paths with different endings all filmed in the United Kingdom, and it stars Nicole O’Neill (Red Sparrow, Penny Dreadful, Beauty and the Beast). The premise is, “After the unexpected death of a close friend, Kristina returns to her hometown looking for answers, only to unearth a string of dark secrets. The truth turns out to be far more harrowing than she could have imagined…”
I Saw Black Clouds sounds like it will borrow some game mechanics from another Wales Interactive FMV game, sci-fi thriller The Complex, in that it will track relationships between characters and allow you to skip past scenes you’ve already seen before on replays. The Complex wound up being good, not-particularly-deep fun; hopefully I Saw Black Clouds can deliver another fun interactive movie experience.
Wales Interactive is well-known for interactive FMV games. The developer notably announced Gamer Girl last year, a game that disappeared off the face of the earth and had its trailer pulled once it received a tremendous and unanticipated social media backlash. It’s unclear when or if that particular title will ever see release.
