Dark Souls III

From blindfolded playthroughs to using strange controllers such as a goose costume, the Internet has no shortage of people attempting all sorts of crazy video game challenges. YouTuber Super Louis 64 is one such person, having played played games using everything Dance Dance Revolution pads to bananas. Yes, bananas. In his latest challenge, Super Louis 64 faces both mental and physical exhaustion as he attempts to play Dark Souls III with Ring Fit Adventure‘s Ring-Con.

Using a custom Dark Souls III mod, Super Louis 64 was able to map in-game actions to specific motions using the Ring-Con. The setup is quite brilliant, actually. Any motion in-game requires the user to jog in place. To make things more intense, the mod requires a specific jogging intensity to prevent cheesing the system. Other common actions like attacking and healing require you to squeeze the Ring-Con and squat, respectively. It appears that other actions retain their normal mappings, though some (like dodging) also require physical movement.

I always love watching how unconventional controllers can be used to play games, and this mod is no different. It seems very well constructed and well thought out. Watching Super Louis 64 tear through Dark Souls III‘s opening boss was certainly exciting, and I’d love to see more of it in the future. That said, I think I’ll be sticking to Ring Fit Adventure for my future workouts!
