Developer We Create Stuff and publisher Modus Games have announced that In Sound Mind, a “reality-bending psychological thriller,” is coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG with a release date of Aug. 3, 2021. The game is played in first-person and involves horror elements stemming from “unpredictable dangers stirring within memories.” We Create Stuff previously gained notoriety by creating a Half-Life 2 mod called Nightmare House 2, another first-person horror experience, but it’s fair to say In Sound Mind is enjoying a much higher budget. The Living Tombstone is providing the soundtrack.
The In Sound Mind release date trailer doesn’t really provide a lot of insight into how the game will play. However, its Steam description offers some more straightforward information, as you will “Journey through a progression of unsettling stories, each with unique puzzles, mechanics, weapons, and boss fights.” Defeating bosses will involve solving “mind-bending” puzzles.
If you like creepy and/or cerebral experiences on Nintendo Switch, there’s plenty more where In Sound Mind came from. For instance, first-person horror game Chasing Static is coming to Switch in Q3 2021, and whatever the heck Fatum Betula is released back in March. There’s even some 8-bit horror coming in fall with Sunshine Manor.
Watch out for the release date of In Sound Mind this August.
