Publisher The Arcade Crew and developer Berzerk Studio have announced a February 14, 2022 release date for retro action adventure Infernax on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. This is a game that notably claims to combine Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, Castlevania II, and copious gore, and it is launching on Valentine’s Day. You play as the great knight Alcedor, who comes home to find a curse has corrupted the land, so now you’re going to use your mace and shield to set things right, one clobbered monster at a time.
Through collecting experience and money while battling, Alcedor can level up and gain new skills and weapons. Like in Castlevania II, the world layout is apparently pretty open despite the gameplay being that of a sidescroller. And in addition to the usual arcadey play, there will be moral decisions to make that affect which ending you will receive. Check out the Infernax release date trailer to see it all in action.
Berzerk Studio is the developer of acclaimed indie Just Shapes and Beats, and The Arcade Crew is the indie publishing label of Dotemu, which is in turn owned by Focus Entertainment. Basically, these guys should know what they’re doing.
