Injustice DC Animated Movie trailer Warner Bros. DC Comics

Back in July, Warner Bros. and DC Comics announced the Injustice DC Animated Movie, adapting NetherRealm Studios’ Injustice: Gods Among Us fighting game and the comic book Injustice: Gods Among Us: Year One. Now, we have the official trailer for said DC Animated Movie, which mostly just sets the scene for Injustice and doesn’t contain much hero-on-hero conflict. It features the Joker pulling his lovable antics on Superman, which results in the less lovable death of Lois Lane and Superman’s unborn child. Now, Superman is angry, pulling a totalitarian heel turn, and maybe getting ready to kill the Joker while Batman watches helplessly.

The Injustice video game and comic stemmed from the same premise, and it basically sets up a war between dictator Superman’s team and Batman’s freedom fighter team. The storylines received a positive reception, and a huge voice cast for this film is hoping to breathe even more life into the narrative. Among others, Justin Hartley is Superman, Anson Mount is Batman, Gillian Jacobs is Harley Quinn, Kevin Pollak is Joker and Jonathan Kent, and Janet Varney is Wonder Woman. The animation looks solid too, with the Injustice movie trailer at least having more personality than the Mortal Kombat Legends animated trailer.

Injustice the animated movie arrives on October 19, 2021 on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack, Blu-ray, and digitally. There’s no word on if it will ever come to HBO Max, but it seems likely to happen eventually.
