VentureBeat reporter Jeff Grubb has a pretty accurate track record with predicting future game announcements. For example, he gave early notification of March’s Nintendo Direct and news on the Apex Legends Switch port. Now he’s updated his summer events list on Twitter, indicating that a potential Nintendo presentation could occur sometime in the middle of this month, whether a Nintendo Direct or something else, like a Direct Mini: Partner Showcase.

Jeff Grubb’s updated list essentially pegs an August Nintendo showcase to occur between the 11th and the 22nd. Whenever it occurs, it wouldn’t be out of the question for Nintendo to leave very little advance notice of the event, as last month’s Nintendo Direct Mini came with incredibly short notice.
In the best case, we could have a Nintendo Direct Mini as early as next week. The last Nintendo Direct Mini occurred on a Monday, and so did Masahiro Sakurai’s presentation for Min Min, which could make Monday, Aug. 17 a good candidate for the presentation. However, the Pokémon Presents presentations occurred on Wednesdays, and if nothing else, Nintendo is known for a huge amount of spontaneity.
We’ll keep you updated as more details develop about this supposed August Nintendo showcase, whatever it is.
