Jessie and James available to fight in Pokémon GO via Meowth Balloon

Team GO Rocket’s Jessie and James are now live in Pokémon GO and available for players to battle. All you need to do is head out on a walk, as you’d normally do with the game, and tap on the Meowth balloon in Pokémon GO when you see it. Just like it sounds, it’s Meowth’s giant head as a balloon, like Team Rocket’s balloons in the anime.

According to Niantic, Jessie and James have been sent out to try to create more Shadow Pokémon. They’ve each been assigned their own Shadow Pokémon as protection, so don’t expect battles with them to be easy. According to those who have fought them, they typically use a Shadow Ekans and Koffing, which are both references to the TV show once again.

This even is occurring as part of pre-Pokémon GO Fest 2020 celebrations. Today there will be more Team Rocket balloons in the sky, and this Meowth balloon will be among them. It’ll also be possible to get yourself a Shadow Suicune when fighting Giovanni.

Your best chance of battling Jessie and James comes this Sunday, when you’ll also be rewarded with double Stardust for Team Rocket battles and be able to use a TM to make Shadow Pokémon forget the Frustration move.

Pokémon GO Fest 2020 is just a couple of weeks away, and already Niantic is ramping up the activity in-game. We can barely wait to see what’s in store for us when the event goes live on July 25 and 26.
