Developer Mr. Nutz Studio and French publisher Microids have announced Joe & Mac: Caveman Ninja for unspecified (but likely all) consoles and PC for release in 2022, being an upgraded remake of the original 1991 arcade game with new content added. Microids explained that this falls into a strategy of dealing with Japanese IP such as Goldorak and apparently two games based on Taito property. Like the original game, Joe & Mac: Caveman Ninja will be a platformer that is playable single-player or with two-player co-op, and it will include all-new levels in an “original adventure mode.”
“It’s a real honor to offer gamers the chance to rediscover these characters that marked their generation,” said Stéphane Longeard, CEO of Microids. “We have full confidence in Mr. Nutz Studio to bring these little prehistoric men back to life.” Mr. Nutz Studio is a busy group, as it is also currently finishing the beautiful Asterix & Obelix: Slap Them All!, which launches in November.
Tosuke Matsuoka, Data East license producer from G-MODE Corporation, also shared the following statement:“We have full confidence in Microids and Mr. Nutz Studio capability to develop this remake of Joe & Mac: Caveman Ninja. It’s a real pleasure to see these iconic video game characters revived with today’s technology. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen these two characters, and their return will delight old fans and new players alike.”
Stay tuned for further details on this beautiful remake.
