Nintendo Switch sales 100 million

Media Create releases a weekly report of hardware and software sales in Japan. Its newest report (data from the week of November 6th, 2017 to November 12th, 2017), the Nintendo Switch continues to lead the charge in hardware sales.

Here’s the rundown for the hardware chart (previous week sales in brackets):

  • Nintendo Switch – 79,958 (64,387)
  • PS4 – 20,021 (21,830)
  • New Nintendo 3DS LL [XL] – 10,323 (11,116)
  • New Nintendo 2DS LL [XL] – 7,296 (7,914)
  • PS4 Pro – 6,037 (6,993)
  • PS Vita – 3,210 (3,576)
  • Nintendo 2DS – 1,484 (1,539)
  • Xbox One X – 1,344 (N/A)
  • New Nintendo 3DS – 266 (287)
  • Xbox One – 121 (114)
  • PS3 – 41 (56)
  • Wii U 36 (38)

As you can see, the Switch is far-and-away the top selling system in Japan. This shouldn’t be too surprising since the Switch is a hybrid system. Japanese gamers tend to gravitate towards portable systems over traditional home consoles, so the Switch is definitely benefiting from its hybrid functionality that servers both tastes.
