Just Dance 2020

Just Dance 2020 recently launched on a host of systems, including the grandfatherly Nintendo Wii. Not only did it release on a thirteen-year-old console, but the retro-by-default version sold pretty well in some territories. In the United Kingdom, the Switch version of Just Dance 2020 sold the best with about 55% of total sales. Rather than the PS4 or Xbox One version of the game claiming second place, the Wii version comfortably secured the spot with 21% of sales. PS4 and Xbox One sales respectively accounted for 14% and 10% of the opening week movement.

Ubisoft has claimed to be “happy” to be the last publisher supporting the Wii, but it is still pretty strange seeing games like Just Dance 2020 come to Wii in the first place. I do not know whether it is surprising or simply funny that it sold fairly well. Just Dance 2020 skipped the much-maligned Wii U and still-popular systems like the PlayStation 3, but something about Nintendo’s motion-controlled revolution clearly still commands a fanbase for the series. If it sells well, then why not, right?

Have you gotten in on Just Dance 2020? What do you think of it? Are you playing it on a modern console, or did some otherworldly force compel you to blow the dust off of the old Wii? Let us know in the comments.
