Kazuya Tekken Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Kazuya Mishima from Bandai Namco’s Tekken franchise is the fifth DLC character of Fighters Pass 2 for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, as announced at the Nintendo E3 Direct. He retains many of his moves from the fighting game franchise, and he can transform into a demon form. Smash series director Masahiro Sakurai appeared briefly on stream to explain that more details on Kazuya in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will come later, but in the meantime, he showed off the character’s basic set. Masahiro Sakurai will provide a stream (after Nintendo finishes recording it) for Kazuya in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on June 28, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. ET / 7:00 a.m. PT.

Kazuya has been playable across nearly the entire Tekken franchise as a major character, often as an antagonist. Time will tell if he retains his fighting game inputs and/or plays in a fashion akin to his other fighting game brethren in Smash, including Ken, Ryu, and Terry Bogard. It’s more difficult for fighting game purists to say Super Smash Bros. Ultimate can’t be a fighting game when this many major fighting game characters are appearing in it.

Prior to the Fighters Pass 2 announcement of Kazuya in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the rest of the pass contained Min Min from Arms, Steve from Minecraft, Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII, and Pyra and Mythra from Xenoblade Chronicles 2. One character remains in Fighters Pass 2.
