In his holiday address to investors, Tatsumi Kimishima, the president of Nintendo, once again confirmed that the hardware market will continue to remain the core of Nintendo’s business. The executive once again reaffirmed that the NX will be a “brand new concept,” the Kimishima did not give any sort of timeframe for the platform’s launch.

For our dedicated video game platform business, Nintendo is currently developing a gaming platform codenamed “NX” with a brand-new concept and our unique software-led hardware-software integrated business will continue to constitute the core business for Nintendo. For the purpose of maximizing the population that interact with Nintendo IP, we will also enter into the smart device gaming business and aim to generate revenue and profit from it as well as to create synergy with the dedicated video game platform business.

With how much Nintendo is bringing up the NX, it seems like the platform may be coming next year. What do you think? Will the NX release next year, or do you think that a 2017 release is more likely?
