Japanese Nintendo Japan website leak leaks Kirby: Discovery Bayonetta 3 2022 release date Nintendo Switch

So, it seems the official Nintendo website for Japan may have pulled an oopsy and leaked some details of today’s September 2021 Nintendo Direct in advance. In particular, the Japanese Nintendo website lists an unannounced Nintendo Switch game called Kirby: Discovery, which will launch physically and digitally in spring 2022, and it also lists a general 2022 release date for PlatinumGames’ long-awaited Bayonetta 3.

Both the listing for Kirby: Discovery and Bayonetta 3 currently link to broken blog posts, but perhaps that will change once the actual Nintendo Direct airs later today at 6:00 p.m. ET / 3:00 p.m. PT. In any case, there have been rumors for a while that a new Kirby is in development, and it’s pretty much safe to assume that there’s always at least one Kirby game in development. HAL Laboratory and Vanpool released bite-sized Kirby Fighters 2 last year, and Nintendo Switch received Kirby Star Allies in 2018. So, a Kirby: Discovery makes perfect sense, whatever it proves to be when it launches on Switch in spring. (You’ll note that its key art looks weirdly post-apocalyptic though… in a cute way.)

Meanwhile, Bayonetta 3 has not only been lacking a release date, but it’s also been lacking gameplay footage of any kind since its initial announcement back in December 2017. Fans are desperate to see this game in action — even perhaps the PlatinumGames developers themselves. In any case, stay tuned for more concrete details about Kirby: Discovery and (we hope) Bayonetta 3 at the September 2021 Nintendo Direct later today.

Update: Kirby and The Forgotten Land and Bayonetta 3 gameplay have been officially revealed!
