Klonoa Encore

Bandai Namco Entertainment has trademarked what appears to be a whole bunch of remasters in Japan. Each trademark includes the word ‘Encore,’ which the publisher has used to denote two Switch remakes already: Katamari Damacy Reroll is Katamari Damacy Encore in Japan, and the recently unveiled Kotoba no Puzzle: Moji Pittan Encore is due out on Switch in Spring 2020. The full list of titles includes Genpei Touma Den Encore, Klonoa Encore, Mr. Driller Encore, Splatter House Encore, and Wagyan Land Encore. The Mr. Driller Encore trademark came with a logo.

Klonoa Encore Mr. Driller Encore

Klonoa is, of course, the most exciting game on the list. I had the pleasure of playing Klonoa: Door to Phantomile on my Vita earlier this year, and it’s an incredibly charming, fun game that more people need to experience. Klonoa Encore would hopefully include the original title and its sequel, but it could just as easily be a slightly tuned-up port of the first game’s Wii remake. I would be over the moon for either of those outcomes.

If anything comes of this trademark dump, though, then Bandai Namco is clearly committed to bringing tons of its legacy content (presumably) to Switch, beyond the wonderful Klonoa. This is hardly a surprise given year-old comments from the publisher indicating a commitment to bring as many games as possible to Nintendo’s hybrid platform. Which game on this list are you most hopeful to see come to fruition? Any retro Bandai Namco titles not on this list that should be? Sound off in the comments.
