More Pokémon Nanoblock sets are on the way, as Rakuten has revealed that Kubfu and Garchomp will be receiving the blocky treatment in April 2021. Both sets are the standard Nanoblock size, retailing for 1099 yen on Rakuten’s Japanese website.
Garchomp is one of the most popular Pokémon that was introduced in the fourth generation, which may explain its inclusion as a Pokémon Nanoblock set. The Dragon/Ground type was especially prevalent in VGC tournaments, as I used one myself. Kubfu was introduced in the Pokémon Sword and Shield Expansion Pass, being one of the starring Legendary Pokemon, so it will make for another cool Nanoblock. It is interesting to see merchandise for a more recent addition to the roster, and hopefully we’ll see more for the likes of Urshifu.
Rakuten has also announced that a six-figure mini-set featuring Grass-type Pokémon is on its way. This set will retail for 3120 yen and contain 65 pieces. The items included are unknown for the most part, with Bulbasaur and Venusaur being the only two confirmed Pokémon at this moment in time.
We are likely to get more merchandise announcements throughout 2021. This year is the 25th anniversary of the Pokémon brand, with other companies also announcing partnerships. Funko recently announced that more Pokémon Funko Pop figures are arriving later in the year. What would you like to see in 2021 for Pokémon?
