During Gamescom: Opening Night Live, Warner Bros. and TT Games debuted a new Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga gameplay trailer — and it looks spectacular. The trailer also unfortunately confirmed a game delay to spring 2021, far past the game’s originally announced October 2020 release. But again, that’s just the new normal, with the likes of Sky: Children of the Light and Sports Story also receiving delays recently. Besides, quality is worth waiting for.
And indeed, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga appears to be loaded with quality. We already gave the game an overtly positive preview last year at E3, and nothing seems to have changed since then if this trailer is a good indication. The game just looks beautiful, and it carries a strong sense of humor throughout. It’s enough to actually get a person excited about Star Wars again, maybe.
A “Deluxe Edition” of the game will include a Character Collection Bundle Pack, containing six DLC character packs inspired by The Mandalorian, Rogue One, Solo: A Star Wars Story, Star Wars: The Bad Batch, and more. The physical version of the Deluxe Edition will also include… a Lego “Luke Skywalker with Blue Milk” mini figure. Really.
The gameplay trailer reveals that Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is coming to next-gen consoles as well. That means the TT Games title will come to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC next spring.
It’s weird but true that Lego might be the best thing that’s happened to Star Wars in recent years, especially with that new The Lego Star Wars Holiday Special on the way.
