During the last Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct, game director Masahiro Sakurai announced five DLC combatants will be making their way to the title next year. No other details were shared, other than Sakurai begging fans to only buy the Fighter Pass if they believe the quality of the character lineup is going to be stellar. Today, the man who never catches a break divulged some news regarding the mystery warriors.
All will not be revealed
On Twitter, Sakurai let the universe know each of the five DLC fighters have already been decided. The selection came from Nintendo themselves, meaning fans could not have their favorites determined on a poll like Bayonetta was in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. Of course, Sakurai has the final say on whether the characters are feasible for Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Above all, Sakurai left Twitter users with this plea:
It’s great to dream about your favorite character joining the battle and I appreciate your passion, but please try to stay on topic when replying to tweets and refrain from flooding us, and other users, with requests when we’re not specifically asking for feedback. Thank you!
You hear that, Waluigi or Bust gamers? Leave Sakurai alone. The man is doing the best he can!
Certainly, while I am disappointed fans cannot vote for a character to add to Smash this time around, I’m confident in Sakurai’s judgment. The director pours love and detail into every Smash warrior that ends up in the lineup. Therefore, I bet Piranha Plant is going to be super fun to play, as well as these five DLC combatants.
