Link’s Awakening was one of the most charming and beloved games on Game Boy. This island adventure got a Game Boy Color update years later, but it’s showing its age. That’s why Nintendo decided to greenlight a full remake in a new style. The results were spectacular! The game launched to rave reviews across the board, and early results suggested that sales were strong as well. Nintendo just put out its latest earnings release, highlighting sales data from the past three months. According to this report, the Koholint adventure sold over 3 million copies in its first 11 days.
Link’s Awakening remake speeds past 3 million
Nintendo’s report lists sales for the Link’s Awakening remake at 3.13 million. However, this report only covers sales from July 1 to September 30. The game came out on September 20, so it only had 11 days from launch through the end of the month. That’s one hot start! As Nibel pointed out on Twitter, A Link Between Worlds on 3DS has sold 4.07 million in about six years. Link’s Awakening nearly reached that amount in just a week and a half!
That impressive start was just enough to land the Link’s Awakening remake in the top ten highest-selling Switch games. Not bad for a remake that had just 11 days on the market! Super Mario Maker 2 is just ahead of it at 3.93 million units sold.
