Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC most wanted characters by region

Ever since Smash 4’s Fighter Ballot, it seems like fans have had a great say in who appears in Smash. This is especially true with the inclusion of fan favorites like Ridley, K. Rool, and Banjo in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. And with more DLC coming, it could be interesting to see what characters different regions want in Smash Ultimate.

Reddit user zelcf helped us all by revealing who each region wants to see as DLC in Smash Ultimate. The Redditor created a handy graphic, showcasing the top 10 most requested fighters in Japan, the United States, and Europe.

This data was based on Twitter responses after DLC character reveals on official Nintendo Twitter accounts. As a result, these top 10 lists do not represent the opinion of every Smash Bros. player in the respective regions. Still, they provide useful insight about possible differences in opinion between regions. Even more, these lists could help us predict who Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s next new fighters will be.

A closer look at the Smash Ultimate DLC requests by region

It is clear that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fans across each region want to see Sora from Kingdom Hearts as DLC. Japanese fans are also hoping for third-party characters like Lloyd from Tales of Symphonia and Dante from Devil May Cry. However, Japan is still requesting some first-party characters. A notable example is Byleth from Fire Emblem: Three Houses. (I personally am not sure if I agree that we need another Fire Emblem character.)

American and European Smash fans have some similar interests when it comes to DLC picks. Both regions want Crash Bandicoot, Minecraft’s Steve, Super Mario RPG’s Geno, and Doom’s Doom Slayer. However, the U.S. has a much greater request for Shantae, as well as first-party picks like Waluigi and Bandana Dee. Conversely, Europe has unexpected picks like the Heavy from Team Fortress 2, Agumon from Digimon, and Jibanyan from Yo-Kai Watch.

What are your thoughts on this list? Which region do you think had the better picks for Smash Ultimate DLC? Who else do you want to fight as in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate? Let us know in the comments or on our social media!
