At Gamescom: Opening Night Live, developer Tarsier Studios and publisher Bandai Namco shared a story trailer for Little Nightmares II, which will launch on Feb. 11, 2021 (barring any delays) for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, followed by a later release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
The game follows characters Mono, a boy trapped in a distorted world, and Six, a girl that is Mono’s guide through the madness. However, it is also up to Mono to save Six from “her terrible fate,” whatever that happens to be. The game does not seem to offer co-op though, being more of an Ico affair where Six is computer-controlled.
The Little Nightmares II story trailer offers the usual assortment of extremely dark woods and abandoned buildings you’re used to seeing in horror video games. Likewise, there is an assortment of creepy, deadly nemeses to evade, like the Teacher, the Hunter, and other “hair-raising characters down to the roots of evil.”
Tarsier Studios and Bandai Namco released the original Little Nightmares in 2017, and it made its way to Nintendo Switch in 2018. The game garnered a positive critical reception, so here’s hoping Little Nightmares II can live up to fan expectations and offer a few new surprises.
