Luigi's Mansion 3

Halloween is just a few days away. Many gamers are certain to be celebrating the occasion with a horror game or two, or maybe a less scary game that still nails fun Halloween vibes. Do you have a “spooky” Nintendo game that you love more than the rest? Your answer could include actual horror games that have shown up on Nintendo systems, such as Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem, or it could include beloved, less scary classics like Luigi’s Mansion.

For me, the original Luigi’s Mansion takes the cake. The atmosphere is wonderful, even if the game itself is light on screams. Despite being the shortest of the trilogy (making it great for quick autumn replays), the original Luigi’s Mansion has the most heart and energy of the series. The detailed portrait ghosts, the eerie mansion, Luigi’s quiet humming, and more all contribute to a wonderfully orchestrated adventure. Combine that with fun ghost-busting gameplay and some very satisfying puzzles, and you’ve got yourself a great game that’s worth revisiting every year around this time.

What is your favorite Halloween-appropriate Nintendo game? What do you like about it? What sets it apart from the rest of the crowd? Let us know in the comment section below.
