Older gamers like me like to reminisce about the past. If we’re feeling particularly nostalgic for the Nintendo 64 days, we have Super Mario 64 on Super Mario 3D All-Stars to satiate our needs. But sometimes we like to imagine what a new game on the ancient hardware would look like. We no longer have to dream, because retro-style platformer Macbat 64 is heading to Switch by the end of the week.
Macbat 64 looks more like an homage to Banjo-Kazooie than the original Yooka-Laylee
Take a look at some Macbat 64 gameplay below:
It’s just like Banjo-Kazooie, minus a sidekick!
Developer Diplodocus Games promises a 4:3 aspect ratio option for the title, so players can feel like they are sitting in front of a CRT. The game also has the following description up on its eShop page:
Embark on a journey with the lovable bat Macbat, as he ventures through 9 colourful platforming levels to obtain the keys to the water factory to restore water production. Featuring a playful artstyle reminiscent of the 64-bit era, Macbat 64 will fly right to the hearts of all 90s platformer fans.
If you’re interested in this cutesy adventure, it will launch on Switch this Friday, October 2, for $1.99. You can’t beat that price!
