Nintendo 64 20th anniversary The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

With Nintendo 64 games finally arriving on Nintendo Switch Online, plenty of players have dove into old favorites and classics over the past week. The system’s presence on the Switch has brought many players to reminisce about their favorite games for the platform, either because they’re able to play them on Switch, or because they hope to see them land on Switch in the future. What is your favorite Nintendo 64 game?

For me, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask takes the cake. The game is a masterpiece, close to the best that The Legend of Zelda has to offer. The music, the time-looping gameplay, the heart-wrenching side stories, and the flat-out strange aura surrounding the world of Termina make the game nearly impossible to put down. It’s a high-quality effort that stands as my favorite Nintendo 64 game and one of my favorite games ever, no question. Honorable mention for me includes Star Fox 64, Banjo-Kazooie, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Diddy Kong Racing, and Super Mario 64. While I didn’t quite grow up with the Nintendo 64 (I was more of a GameCube kid), it was still my first system, and I owe many of my formative gaming experiences to the exciting platform. I still revisit many of these games today, and plenty of them hold up beautifully every time.
