Kill La Kill: IF was an incredible surprise when it launched this past summer. The Arc System Works-published arena-brawler was one of the most faithful anime video games we’ve ever seen, with slick visuals and addictive yet surprisingly competitive gameplay.
The one sour spot of the experience was the incredibly light roster, with the game only boasting eight playable characters. Free update DLC has aimed to rectify that by expanding the roster, and the latest is no different. Fans of the croquet-eating, angelic choir-summoning antics of Mako Mankanshoku can now duke it out as her in the latest version of Kill La Kill: IF.
Mako Mankanshoku wasn’t much of a fighter in the original anime. She spent most of her time as the plucky, encouraging sidekick and best friend to series protagonist Ryuko Matoi. At one point in the series, though, Mako went from being a simple no-star student without a penny to her name to earning a 2-star ranking for being the President of the Fight Club. Her status as a 2-star President earned her a Goku Uniform, the super-powered clothes that the rest of the fighters in Kill La Kill wear. While she quickly gave up the uniform once it threatened to end her friendship with Ryuko, Mako Mankanshoku rocks the gear again as a fighter in Kill La Kill IF.
Alongside Mako Mankanshoku, the newest update for Kill La Kill IF also introduces a variety of bug fixes and alterations to existing characters. The version 1.05 update is live now for players on PlayStation 4 and PC, but it will be coming to Nintendo Switch at a later date.
