It has been revealed that when DUSK launches for Nintendo Switch this Halloween, it will come with a special endless level on Switch. This level is inspired by the Super Mario 64 castle and called “Mamma Mia Flesh Palace.” I have to admit that I wasn’t sold on the game until I saw this news, and now it’s going to be a day one download.
The Mamma Mia Flesh Palace is exactly what you’d expect. It’s a castle built in the middle of a platform of flesh. Here you’ll fight wave after wave of enemies until you can fight no longer. You can travel to any point on the map that you can see, but so can enemies. You’ll need to make use of everything at your disposal, from your weapons and the jump pads to your keen sense of rocket volleying, in order to survive. However, the Super Mario 64 sound effects used in the video definitely won’t be present in the final game.
DUSK comes from developer David Szymanski and publisher New Blood Interactive. It draws inspiration from a number of ’90s shooters, including Half-Life and (more obviously) Blood. The game’s campaign will subject you to three hellish episodes. In these you’ll travel beneath Earth’s surface to take on all manner of monsters, cultists, and possessed militants. The action will offer players a wide range of weapons to mess around with, including a sickle, crossbow, and double-barreled shotgun.
