Mario Cafe & Store Universal Studios Japan USJ Nintendo Mario

Last week, we reported on the new opening date for Super Nintendo World Japan. While the huge Nintendo-themed resort is now opening next year, we did get information on something else in the meantime. It was revealed that the Mario Cafe & Store at Universal Studios Japan would open Oct. 16, and we’ve now got our first look.

Bloomberg reporter Takashi Mochizuki has shared some pictures of the Mario Cafe & Store ahead of opening tomorrow. We get a proper look at the exterior of the store and some images of the products inside. The clothing shop looks a bit like the inside of your typical Disney Store, and my God those Mario drinks and desserts look goddamn delicious.

Mochizuki showed off that Super Mushroom canteen, also available at the Mario Cafe & Store. The cup looks just fine when assembled, but sort of horrifying when you take the mushroom cap off! Might be best to leave that one on to prevent nightmares about this thing.

Mario Cafe & Store

Nightmares aside, the Mario Cafe & Store looks fantastic. We’re quite jealous that all this goodness is opening up in Japan right now, and we can only hope to see U.S. and E.U. locations crop up soon. The current climate might not be the best for Mario stores opening up here, but we’re eager to put 2020 behind us and experience this in person.

What Mario merch are you eyeing up?
