Want to play the Kingdom Hearts series on Switch? Well, you’re going to have to settle for Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory. A rhythm game instead of an RPG, gamers can try out the experimental title before it launches on November 11. Curiously, a dataminer named Kaitlyn “Orcastraw” Molinas discovered a hidden list of bad words in the demo that could lead to a ban from Square Enix. Perhaps it pertains to an online handle or chat feature.
Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory is a Disney game, after all
Check out Kaitlyn’s findings in their tweet regarding the trial:
How do you get banned from Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memories? Simple, by using one of the words in the banned word list!!! Maybe it'll have a chat feature, who knows.
Many lewd phrases and drug names are banned, as well as the word honkers. pic.twitter.com/iDi0EnpPUV— Kaitlyn Molinas (@orcastraw) October 27, 2020
While I could see why a lot of these words would lead to a ban online, some are questionable. Why can’t I mention Robitussin? Suppose I am recommending the cough syrup to a friend while playing Melody of Memory with them. I now have one less way of expressing my knowledge of medicine.
Regardless, I doubt Square Enix is going to start outlawing players left and right for using some questionable language. I could see the company issuing a warning or two before it swings its mighty ban hammer.
