Metroid Dread

Metroid Dread marks the long-awaited return of the 2D Metroid series. As a game that was over a decade in the making, fans are still in disbelief that it’ll be released at all. Many fans of the series are giddy with excitement, while many others are eyeing a chance to dive into the series for the first time, especially after a new gameplay trailer detailed several abilities and aspects of the game just yesterday. After seeing that trailer, how do you feel about the game? Is it on your radar? How high up?

I didn’t jump onto the initial hype wave for Metroid Dread, I’ll admit it. I haven’t played many Metroid games to begin with, and while I liked the one 2D game I’ve played from the franchise (Super, of course), it didn’t hit quite as hard as some modern indie Metroidvanias like Hollow Knight. When Metroid Dread was revealed, I initially did not expect something that would be able to compete with the indie greats that have cultivated the genre in Samus’s absence. After that last trailer, however, I’m a little more excited to see where the game goes. I’ll definitely be playing it sometime, but I’m not ready to preorder just yet.

What did you think of the latest Metroid Dread trailer? How excited are you for the game overall? Let us know in the comments below.
