Paper Mario: The Origami King is not too far off. Fans of the series are eagerly anticipating the Switch title. Meanwhile, gamers who do not like more recent entries in the saga are wondering if The Origami King will bring the RPG back to its roots. Regardless of where you fall on the spectrum, we can all agree it was funny seeing Mario run around with a Samus helmet in the reveal trailer. Now, Nintendo of America is highlighting that moment on Twitter. Is it nothing or a subtle tease for incoming Metroid news?

There hasn’t been a new Metroid game since 2017

Check out NoA’s message to the gaming community below:

Hmm. This could very well just be a nod to Samus and nothing more.

However, at the start of 2020, a rumor made the rounds on social media. It mentioned both a new Paper Mario title and 2D Metroid game releasing within the year. One of those reports has already been made real. It isn’t too far fetched to expect the other to come to fruition at some point.

Enthusiasts, what do you think of the NoA tweet? A cheeky reference to the Metroid series or confirmation a new game announcement is close? Let us know your theories below.
