There were some rumors about this, and they were 100% true apparently: Monster Hunter Rise has been announced for Nintendo Switch at the Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase. It is the sort of steady hack-and-slash adventure you’ve become used to in a vast world, except this time it appears to have been built strictly with Switch in mind. Preorder bonuses plus Deluxe Editions details have already been revealed, and the game will launch on March 26, 2021.
In Monster Hunter Rise, you will make use of a special insect called the Wirebug, which allows you to grapple in any direction and make it possible to climb cliffs or whatever else seems fit to climb. And importantly, “All combat areas within each quest are seamlessly connected, allowing for exploration of the vast and vertical landscapes with no loading times.”
Additionally, the game will enjoy functionality with new amiibo! However, these Monster Hunter Rise amiibo will be exclusive to GameStop in the United and EB Games in Canada (and My Nintendo Store for Europe, apparently), so keep that in mind.
A full Monster Hunter Direct occurred after the main showcase today, which was a great surprise and revealed that this game will have compatibility of some kind with Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin on Nintendo Switch.
