The title tells the story, folks! Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is coming to Nintendo Switch in summer 2021, as announced at the Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase. Following the end of the Nintendo Direct, a special Monster Hunter Direct occurred immediately afterward to showcase more of this game and Monster Hunter Rise. Capcom has been very busy supporting Nintendo, it turns out.
While details for Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin weren’t nearly as forthcoming as with Rise, we still got enough to munch on for a while. You’ll be playing as the “Monster Rider” who makes friends with famous monsters from the franchise and goes on adventure with them. The big mystery to solve, it seems, is that Rathalos has disappeared.
Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin will enjoy compatibility with Monster Hunter Rise in some way, but how is being kept under wraps for now. It’s clear that either this Capcom title isn’t as deep into development as Rise, or Capcom just really wants to stagger the details in order to maintain a steady cadence of reveals. Either way, if they wanted to hook fans, they’ve succeeded.
