If you’re thoroughly underwhelmed by the launch lineups of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, there are still plenty of other games to keep you occupied this holiday season. One of them is developer Still Running and publisher Merge Games’ horror action RPG Morbid: The Seven Acolytes, announced back in June. The game has received a final release date of Dec. 3 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and a limited Signature Edition physical version is also being offered.
Morbid: The Seven Acolytes describes itself as “the most gruesome take yet on the isometric soulslike genre,” but that’s not much of a boast considering the genre isn’t nearly as saturated as roguelikes and Metroidvanias have become. Nonetheless, the game has the sorts of trappings you would expect, including challenging bosses, character leveling customization by way of “perks,” and over 25 melee weapons, plus assorted guns. You will be managing health, stamina, and even sanity as you play.
The Signature Edition of the game is available to preorder for $49.99. (The standard digital release is $24.99.) This limited version includes the following contents:
It’s probably just a filter that Merge Games and Still Running chose to you for the trailers, but Morbid: The Seven Acolytes looks literally too dark for me right now. Screenshots suggest the actual game will be easier to see.
