Mortal Kombat 11 friendships trailer

Mortal Kombat 11 has a free Friendships DLC dropping on May 26, the same day as its gnarly Aftermath expansion. The DLC brings back its namesake feature to the series for the first time since the ’90s, when Mortal Kombat developers first added Friendships as an Easter Egg alternative to fatalities – possibly as a tongue-in-cheek response to parental protests of the first game’s excessive gore. With a giant roster and plenty of respect for going over-the-top, Mortal Kombat 11 is not holding back with its Friendships. That much is obvious in a new trailer that appeared today on the official series YouTube channel. Check it out below for plenty of comical alternatives to the typical bloodbath endings to fights.

Friendships look like hilarious fun. Every character brings something uniquely giggle-worthy to the table, too. A few of my favorite moments from the highlight reel above include Sub-Zero grabbing an ice cream cart, Terminator showing off some motorcycle moves, Kitana playing patty cake, and Joker whacking himself with a Batarang.

Are you excited for Friendships to ease tensions in Mortal Kombat 11? Will you pick up the Aftermath expansion to go with it? Will this DLC mark your first experience with the feature, or do you remember it from way back towards the series’ beginning? Let us know in the comments!
