Mortal Kombat is no stranger to having Hollywood movie icons join the game as playable characters. The first Kombat Pass for Mortal Kombat 11 is set to bring us a few pop culture heavy-hitters, and now we’ve got our first look at one of them in action. A new trailer for the game reveals a first look at gameplay for the Terminator T-800 character.
The new DLC fighter is lovingly modeled off of the appearance of the original Terminator actor and the body-building former governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger. The character model in Mortal Kombat 11 seems to specifically be based on his appearance in the upcoming Terminator sequel, Terminator: Dark Fate. Unfortunately, as expected, sharp-eared fans will notice that, while they managed to get his likeness for the character, NetherRealm was unable to get his voice. The cybernetic killer speaks a few times in the trailer, and you can immediately tell that it’s someone doing their darndest to sound just like good ol’ Arnie. Unfortunately, it doesn’t quite hit the mark.
Thankfully, his gameplay style in Mortal Kombat 11 more than makes up for any awkward voice acting. The trailer shows off some interesting abilities for the Terminator T-800, like multiple flashy throws and some incredible attacks that utilize his shotgun and uzi. Most interestingly, there seems to be a mechanic that lets Arnold transform into his skinless inner-skeleton form, giving him a bunch of armored attack invincibility to boot.
Mortal Kombat 11 is available now on the Nintendo Switch. The Terminator T-800 character is set to launch for owners of the Kombat Pass on Oct 8.
