Mortal Kombat movie delayed

Warner Bros. has announced a slight delay for the upcoming Mortal Kombat movie, as it will debut a week later then originally planned. The release date for the film is now April 23, 2021 and will be available to watch in theaters or on streaming service HBO Max. According to Variety, the date has changed to allow Godzilla vs. Kong, which opens today on March 31, to have some more breathing room. This makes sense, as Warner Bros. probably want to ensure that both films are as successful as possible.

Despite numerous delays during production and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, somehow the film is still managing to release during these circumstances. Video game movies normally get a bad reputation, but the original Mortal Kombat movie is considered one of the better adaptations. Recent video game movies such as Pokémon: Detective Pikachu and Sonic the Hedgehog have proven there’s room for video games on the big screen.

Fans don’t have long to wait before the film arrives, so hopefully we will be in for a good time. Mortal Kombat is directed by Simon McQuoid, and you can view its latest trailer now. This slight delay won’t hamper fans from enjoying Mortal Kombat in both theaters and HBO Max in April. Are you excited to see this movie?
